Between April 22th in Barcelona and April 24th Nice the water in fuel emulsion systems on board HAL Nieuw Amsterdam were commissioned. The systems installed as pre treatment for the scrubber system on board. Last week the water in fuel systems on both Carnival Paradise ad HAL Zuiderdam were commissioned. The Carnival Paradise was commissioned between Tampa and Grand Cayman and the HAL Zuiderdam between Rome and Malta. Last week the WFE systems on board Costa Deliziosa and Favolosa have been commissioned with Buenos Aires in Argentina. Both systems are installed as pre treatment for the newly installed scrubber systems. With the WFE systems the PM and soot emissions will be reduced with 70 to 90%. Also there is a 2% fuel saving. The water in fuel system (FID Injector) on board Costa Fascinosa is up and running. The commissioning took place between Tangers and Valencia. In Tangers the vessel was in port together with the Rotterdam from Holland America Line. The Rotterdam was the first installed vessel from IPCO Power's water in fuel systems. The FID Injector on board P&O Aurora is commissioned in Amsterdam. The FID Injector is installed to reduce the fuel consumption and to assist the newly installed scrubber system in reducing the emissions. Mid December, 2014 A/S Shell Denmark called IPCO Power for assistance in treating 35.000 m3 of highly H2S polluted sea water. During the loading of this polluted sea water into a sea going vessel the concentration of H2S and mercaptanes was so extremely high that conventional means to treat the released vapor coming out of the vessel where not sufficient.
With the deployment of the ECOSCRUB, scrubber solution, IPCO Power and the Nature Group managed the treat the vapor in a combined effort and reduced the concentration with more that 98%. The vessel was loaded at an average pump rate of 800 m3/hour. The operation was performed within 48 hours. The ECOSCUB scrubber solution is the best available technique to cope with these type of air pollutions mainly caused during the transloading of Heavy Fuel Oil, bitumen and other products where high air emission of H2S and sulphur components are released or as in this particular case, polluted sea water. Water in fuel systems on Carnival Pride, Carnival Elation and Carnival Ecstasy up and running26/11/2014
Last week the service team from IPCO Power BV commissioned the Water in Fuel Emulsion systems (FID Injector) on board of the Carnival Pride, Carnival Elation and Carnival Ecstasy. The systems are installed to reduce the fuel consumption and to assist the newly installed scrubbers in reducing the PM emissions. After the successful installation of the sludge reduction and combustion improvement system on board the MV Carolyn and the MV Themistocles from Byzantine Maritime Corp also the upcoming new building vessels at HHI-MIPO will be equipped with IPCO Power’s FID Reducer and FID Improver. On board the Themistocles the Sludge Reduction and Combustion Improvement have been studied with great succes. The new builds will have the following yard numbers H/N 8159/8160/8161/8162 With the new upcoming 2015 sulphur limits (0,1%) in the ECA (Emission Control Areas) shipowners must choose a solution. Shipowners can choose between changing over from HFO to MGO, LNG or installing a scrubber on board. Currently the installation of a scrubber is recognized as best alternative. Several manufacturers are supplying scrubbers. Most of the scrubbers consist of a wet package to remove the SOx out of the fuel and a dry package to as after treatment to remove the PM (Particle Matter) for example. Our WFE (water in fuel) system the FID Injector can be used as a pre treatment on board. The water in fuel emulsion with the use of a homogenizer will create an better combustion. With the cleaner and better combustion your engine’s emissions will be reduced. With the FID Injector the PM will be reduced with 60 - 90%. Also every percentage injected water to the fuel will reduce the NOx with 1%. Please find below the results from an evaluation on board the MV Schieborg. IMP = FID Injector in FID Improver modus, so only the homogenizer in operation FWE - Fuel Water Emulsion With a cleaner combustion there will be less maintenance at engine and exhaust.
Currently scrubbers will increase the fuel consumption with an average of 1,5% to 2%. With the FID Injector the fuel consumption will be reduced with approximately 2%. The fuel saving from the FID Injector is achieved by the combination of smaller fuel droplets from the installed homogenizer and the special combustion from the water in fuel emulsion. In the last week of July Lyondell Basell Marseille made use of the PURGIT RVRS unit. During the loading of 12.000 tons of non hydro treated Pygas with a high content of Benzene into the MV Edzard Schulte, the PURGIT Refrigerated Vapor Recovery System was deployed to treat the vapor coming out of the vessel tanks. The vessel was filled with an average pump rate of 450 m3/hour. The operators worked in two shifts of 12 hours to finish the job within 48 hours. The deployment of this type of vapor treatment was a challenge for Fluxel who is the owner of the Port of Marseille and who expressed their contentment over the environmental results. Many other oil and chemical companies in the area showed interest for the use of this unit for similar and numerous other applications.

The Type Approval is arranged on special requests of a specific client. Last week both FID Injector on board of the MS Rotterdam had an inspection from IPCO Power. Both FID Injectors are on board since 2010. Both systems are still nice up and running without any issues. The newer model FID Injector is smaller in dimensions. Between June 2th and June 6th 2014 IPCO Power will be available at the Posidonia 2014. IPCO Power will be available at booth 1521 from our local agent Palmarine (Hellas). The commissioning took place in Key West at May 19th Both FID Injectors for the Seabourn Odyssey are up and running. The commissioning took place between May 13th in Monaco and May 15th Rome. Last week the FID Injectors on board of the HAL Westerdam and HAL Veendam, were commissioned. On board there are special customized FID Injectors installed. The FID Injectors are customized in coorperation with the Holland America Line during the Maasdam engineering. With the special system Coriolis Mass Flow meters and water in fuel meters are installed. With the Coriolis meters the system can operate even more precisly and the water in fuel meter will additional verify the water content. The additional equipment will also be used for the vessel to monitor the daily consumption of fuel. On board the Westerdam there are also remote display installed in the ECR. IPCO Power BV is awarded with the supply of 2 x FID Injector 090 for the Seabourn Odyssey. Seabourn Cruise Line is a luxury cruise line headquartered in Seattle The line operates all around the world, from short seven-day Caribbean cruises to exotic 100+ day cruises around the world.
